This post is the fourth in a series celebrating the favorite trees of California ReLeaf staff and board members. Today, we hear from Kathleen Ford, California ReLeaf’s Finance & Administration Manager.
This tree is not the most beautiful and its setting is less than breathtaking, but I admire this tree each time I see it. Wedged between two above-ground sections of Highway 50, this tree thrives despite being constantly assaulted by car emissions. I love this tree for its tenacity to survive, its contribution to beautifying the freeway, and its capability of absorbing air pollutants from the stream of cars that pass by it each day. It is a true workhorse of our city’s urban forest.
