To celebrate California Arbor Week, which begins later this week on March 7th, we’ll be bringing you a series of blog posts on the favorite trees of California ReLeaf board and staff members. Today, we hear from Gail Church, Executive Director of Tree Musketeers and a California ReLeaf board member.
Marcie the Marvelous Tree, the first planted by the eight-year-old founders of Tree Musketeers, is a native California Sycamore. Since her planting 26 years ago, she has inspired millions of children around the world to plant and care for trees. Marcie has really lived up to her name becoming a local landmark, published journalist, video star and has even written her own biography which is now the basis of a children’s musical! She is an expert on environmental issue and was named a Famous & Historic Tree by American Forests.
