Eucalyptus are the most common non-native trees in California – over 30 species are widely grown throughout the state. The workshop will provide you with a working knowledge of Eucalyptus, including identification, ecological traits, and physical characteristics is essential for any practicing California arborist, urban forester, consultant, city planner, or landscape architect. Participants completing the workshop will be able to identify all commonly grown Eucalyptus in California and will receive reference materials necessary for future work with Eucalyptus.
A one-day workshop, June 14th or June 15th at the LA County Arboretum.

Workshop Presenter
Matt Ritter is a professor of Botany at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and author of the Eucalyptus chapter for the second edition of the Jepson Manual and the Flora of North America. He recently authored a natural history and identification guide to California’s cultivated trees – A Californian’s Guide to the Tree among Us. He is a visiting scholar at the U.C. Santa Cruz Arboretum, Fellow of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, Chair of the City of San Luis Obispo Tree Committee, Chair of the Cal Poly Landscape Advisory Committee, and an award winning teacher.
