California ReLeaf Network 2013 Learning Series
The 2013 Learning Series consists of monthly webinars designed to address challenging and important issues and opportunities for the California Releaf Network and anyone else interested in planting and caring for trees in their communities. Join us on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon as we delve into strategic partnerships, marketing our urban forests, nonprofit development, urban forestry education, and urban forestry best practices. Board Recruitment Time? Learn the Blue Ribbon Nominating Committee Technique
April 10, 12 noon – 1:00 p.m.
Board recruitment discussions usually start with the tired question, “Who do we know?” Instead, let’s start with “What are the three most important things for the board to accomplish this year, and what kind of board members do we need in order to do so?” We’ll go on to “How do we get names of the right people and how do we approach them?”
We’ll tackle some difficult questions such as whether and how to recruit people of different races or educational backgrounds, whether to have clients or parents (or other direct beneficiaries) on the board, and whether to have fundraising or donation requirements. Based on the tested and popular Blue Ribbon Nominating Committee technique.

Alliance for Community Trees Webcast Series
On the First and Third Thursday of the Month from 10:00- 11:00 am (PST), the Alliance for Community Trees hosts its free webinar series. The goal is to create training opportunities for local urban and community forestry organizations.
