WCISA Call for Presentations

Arboriculture on Parade

The Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA) will be holding its 80th Annual Conference and Trade Show April 5-10, 2014 in Pasadena, CA. WCISA is partnering with the Utility Arborist Association (UAA) to bring a wider base of knowledge and experience to the broad spectrum of membership and attendees. This year’s conference theme is “Cooperative Arboriculture” and will be focusing on the building of partnerships and working with related disciplines.

The general sessions will address new research and developments on the benefits of trees and how it impacts public health and the quality of life at the immediate local level. Multiple tracks will be featured on how to build working partnerships in arboriculture and how utility and municipal arborists work together in an urban setting or the wildland urban interface. Additional tracks will focus on the partnerships between commercial arborists and utilities and/or government agencies and how working in unity increases professionalism in the industry.

Break out sessions will include two 60 minute Lightning Round Sessions that will consist of up to ten 5 – 7 minute presentations on case studies that show how the environmental benefits of trees has contributed to the immediate quality of life for a specific entity (For example: municipalities, utilities, homeowner associations, campus settings, etc.). Case studies that involved partnerships with related disciplines will be considered over individual projects.
