The final registration deadline for the Municipal Forestry Institute Conference is quickly approaching.

Unlike most conferences and workshops that focus primarily on trees, MFI develops community forestry leaders by building skills in advocacy, coalition building, program planning, communications, public relations, strategic thinking and other key areas. Past participants include city foresters/arborists, state urban forestry staff, city/county planners, tree wardens, non-profit leaders and local tree/greening advocates.

This coming year’s MFI at the National Arbor Day Foundation’s Lied Lodge and Conference Center in Nebraska City, NE, runs from February 21st – 26th, 2010. Registration deadline is December 15, 2009; detailed information about MFI is available on SMA’s website.
